Richard Clyde Spencer

Richard Clyde Spencer, age 67, of Caro, passed away peacefully at his residence on July 4, 2009 with his family at his side. He was born on November 22, 1941 in Bay City to the late Gerald and Ethel (Skinner) Spencer.

Richard moved from Bay City to Tuscola County as a child. On July 10, 1965 he was united in marriage to the former Sharon LaPratt in Caro. He had been employed at Grede Foundry in Vassar until his retirement. Richard had been a member of the AFL-CIO. In his spare time, he enjoyed his family, as well as hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of almost 44 years, Sharon; his three children, Richard (Jenny) Spencer of Cass City, Tom (Brenda) Spencer of Cass City and Renee (Don) Lesoski of Caro; eight grandchildren, Dustin, Austin, Jason and Jessie Spencer, and Carly, Cody, Hannah and Brent Lesoski; his siblings, Joe (Carol) Spencer of Vassar and Jenny Vargo of Caro; his brother-in-law and wife, Dave (Michelle) LaPratt of Homer; two sisters-in-law, Glenna Spencer of Hillman and Dian Spencer of Caro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the remainder of his siblings and their spouses, Charles Skinner, Ernest Spencer, Edward Spencer, James Spencer, Judy Knight, Evelyn Haley, Pearl Spencer, Delilah Little, Rosemary Mills, Gerald Spencer, Jr., Don Little, James Haley and Juanita Spencer; and his wife’s sister, Judy LaPratt.

The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Chris Taylor facilitating.

Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
